Home Church 7/12/2020

Welcome to SBC Home Church!

Paul is thankful to have the church in Philippi. They have loved and served Paul well while he has been in jail. Today in Philippians 4:14-19, on the heels of Philippians 4:13, Paul is thankful for their action in faith. They have partnered with Paul in furthering the Gospel,  have shared with Paul’s struggles, and Paul is thankful for them. In our text today, Paul reminds the church that their generosity is pleasing to the Lord and because of their love through giving, God will meet all their needs.

Below is the link for our Home Church as well as links for our KidsCo lessons.

(Parents –  While watching the sermon, encourage your children to draw a picture of things they are willing to Share with others. For younger kids write “Gift” in block letters for them to color and use for discussion later.)

Discuss the Word

  1. Highs and Lows – What is something you are excited about this week? – High. What is something we can be praying for this week? –Low
  2. Tell of a time someone gave (time, talent or treasures) to meet a need of yours? (Parents first share your experience, then ask kids to think of a time when someone gave up their time or something they owned to help them.)
  3. How can you give back to those who have sacrificed for you? (What can you do or give to those people who helped you?)
  4. Do you give to your local church? Do you give to ministries that advance the Gospel? Why or Why not? (Parents, discuss ways as a family you do or can support the good news of Jesus being shared in our community and throughout the world.)
  5. Know the promise in 4:19, How does that bring you comfort knowing every need of yours will be met by our Heavenly Father? (God knows your whole life story, so He knows what’s best for you! How does it make you feel knowing God has promised to give you exactly what you need?)

Practice The Word

  • Memorize Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
  • Take Action: Give a gift of appreciation this week to someone who has mentored you, discipled you or helped you? Make a phone call, send a letter, leave a gift on their porch, etc. Get creative!

Pray The Word

  • Pray these following verses this week.
  • Proverbs 3:9-10 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first-fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
  • Proverbs 11:24-25 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
  • 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Ways to Give

Giving of our finances is a response of worship to God who created us, saved us, and is continually at work in the lives of each of His children to reflect more and more of the character of Jesus Christ. Giving is an opportunity to respond to the gospel of Christ in a way that we can find our hearts freed to reflect the generous heart of God.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

We will continue to keep everyone updated regarding our gatherings. If you have any questions, concerns, or needs, please contact any staff member or elder:
