Ephesians 1:3-14

Ephesians 1 is a beautiful introduction to how we have received every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus. We have been chosen, we have been adopted, forgiven and redeemed. We have been marked with a seal and given the Holy Spirit as a down payment of our inheritance. As Christ followers we can easily forget these blessings and live a life that is still of this world and not as if we are chosen by God. We pray that today’s text and sermon serves as a reminder of who God is, His plan for our past, present and future and whose we are within God’s Gospel story.

Discuss the Word

  1. Check in! Everyone gets 30 seconds to check in and talk about how their week was.
  2. What does this passage tell you about God or Christ? Explain
  3. What does this passage tell you about yourself? Explain
  4. Does the text tell us to follow or avoid, commands to obey or do, and promises to claim? Explain your answer.
  5. Based on the text, what does God want me to understand/think?
  6. Based on the text, what does God want me to do?

During the Week

In order for the Word of God to really take hold in our life we need to read it and listen to it consistently over time. If we want it to move the 18 inches from our head to our heart, we have to slow down and really meditate on it and put it into practice. Below you will find a different question for each day of the week. Slowly reread the passage each day and then answer the corresponding question and complete the action step.

Read Ephesians 1:3-14 each day before answering the questions

Monday – Make a list of everything the passage tells you about God or Christ.

Tuesday – Make a list of everything the passage tells you about yourself (anything it puts a finger on in you).

Wednesday – Make a list of each example to follow or avoid, commands to obey or do, and promises to claim.

Thursday – If I really believed this, how would I be different?

Friday – Share what you have learned this week with a mentor, spouse, home church host, or a pastor.

Memory verse – Ephesians 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace”

Ways to Give

Giving of our finances is a response of worship to God who created us, saved us, and is continually at work in the lives of each of His children to reflect more and more of the character of Jesus Christ. Giving is an opportunity to respond to the gospel of Christ in a way that we can find our hearts freed to reflect the generous heart of God.

2 Corinthians 9:7-8 “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

We will continue to keep everyone updated regarding our gatherings.
